Opoho Presbyterian Church

We're a friendly multi-generational church in the suburb of Opoho, above the Botanic Gardens in Dunedin. We hold a variety of views and embrace and enjoy this diversity, always welcoming questions and seeking answers. We are small enough to get to know one another easily and big enough to be an effective and evolving presence of Christ in the community.

Opoho is a child-friendly church with activities for our young children. As well as our 10am Sunday services, we hold various regular and seasonal additional services, groups and social gatherings. Throughout the year we explore our faith together and meet the differing needs of people associated with our parish.

We enjoy music. We have seasonal choirs, and a vibrant music group of piano, strings, acoustic guitars and other instruments - this group plays on the last Sunday of the month and for other occasions.

Currently, some of our parishioners are on a six-year quest to read the Bible together, one book a month. Another group is learning to write psalms - some of these are published on our website and are expressions of our relationship with God in praise, conversation, and challenge.  A particular focus of our mission in the community is a commitment to caring for our world and we have hosted a number of events on climate change, caring for creation, and sustainable living.
