Māori Chaplaincy Position at the University of Otago and Otago Polytechnic

This position is 0.8 Equivalent Full-Time, with this being made up of 0.6 Permanent, and 0.2 Fixed-Term for three years.


The Otago Tertiary Chaplaincy Trust Board (OTCTB) is an ecumenical Christian Board responsible for providing Chaplaincy at Otago Polytechnic and at the University of Otago.
The Board seeks to further enhance its Treaty of Waitangi partnership and covenantal relationship with Māori students, staff and their whanau. We support the right of Māori staff and students, if they so choose, to be ministered to in te reo Māori and karakia Māori.


We are seeking to appoint a Māori Chaplain (0.8 Equivalent Full-Time, with this being made up of 0.6 Permanent, and 0.2 Fixed-Term for three years) to serve on the campuses of the University of Otago and Otago Polytechnic.


This position is open to persons of Christian faith, lay or ordained. There is a preference for those with experience working in a Tertiary Chaplaincy context. Applicants must be in good standing within their Christian denomination and within the Māori community.
